There is no actual way to cure the disorder once diagnosed,

but there are ways to prevent and treat it.

Prevention:

There is only a few ways to prevent CF. The disorder is inherited so the first way to prevent

is to get you and your partner screened for the disease to see you're chances of having

a child with it. Another way is to get tested while pregnant and decide if you would like to keep or terminate the pregnancy.

Treatment:

There are many ways to help treat CF. Most of the treatments are experimental at the moment.

One promising treatment is a daily inhalation that breaks up the thick mucous in the lungs. The

inhalation is called DNase and after a 6 day trial the DNase improved the lung function in all the

patients leaving none harmed in any way. Scientists have also seen that many people with CF

have an abnormally low amount of DHA. In a test, 10 mice with the disorder were given large

doses of DHA for a week. Giving the mice the DHA corrected the imbalance and lowered the

symptoms caused my the disease.
